Vellum Tuck-Ins Technique
Each month, we'll be bringing you a new technique to try. We'll also have several samples for you to see! Look to the bottom of this page for more samples.
Hope you're inspired!
What you’ll need:
1 1 square piece of light-weight vellum or other light-weight paper
2 Ink pad
3 Background stamp
4 Heat tool
5 Bone folder
6 Card stock for layering
7 Folded card

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Stamp a square piece of vellum using whatever color of ink pad desired and whatever kind of background stamp desired. Heat set if necessary.

  1. Turn vellum over and repeat step 1 again.

  1. Fold vellum in half and crease gently using the bone folder or just your finger.

  1. Fold in half again and crease again. Your vellum is now folded into quarters.

  1. Lay the folded piece so that the point with the open corners is at the bottom and the folded point is at the top.

  1. Fold the top layer of vellum up leaving about 1/8 inch from the top edges.

  1. Fold the next layer again leaving about 1/8 inch from the previous layer.

  1. Repeat with the third layer of vellum.

  1. Crease the folds down gently with the bone folder. The thicker the vellum you use, the more likely it is to crack when you crease it.

  1. Embellish as desired and then attach to a layer of card stock.

  1. Attach this to your folded card.

  1. Tuck in a tag, or a gift card, or even money into the pocket you have created.
*Stamping on the vellum is optional. You can also use it plain or you could use double sided paper instead. Maybe try origami paper.
