Chalk Waves Technique
Each month, we'll be bringing you a new technique to try. We'll also have several samples for you to see! Look to the bottom of this page for more samples.
Hope you're inspired!
What you’ll need:
1 Chalks of your choice
2 Textured white card stock
3 Text weight paper
4 Embossing ink pad
5 Gold embossing powder
6 Card stock for layering
7 Folded card
8 Dusting cloth
9 Cotton balls
10 Stamps of your choice

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Tear a piece of text weight paper randomly along one edge. You can make it as straight or wavy as you like.

  1. Lay the torn piece of text weight paper about 1/2 inch from the top of the white card stock. This will act as your mask as you chalk each layer.

  1. Using cotton balls, apply chalks in rows on the white card stock, starting from the top and working your way down, moving the torn paper down a little bit after each successive row is chalked.

  1. Continue adding chalked rows until you get to the bottom of the white piece. You can use as many different colors of chalk as you like for this.

  1. Lightly brush off excess powder with a dusting cloth. I do not seal the chalks and have not had a problem with them smearing.

  1. Stamp image onto the chalked piece with the embossing ink pad.

  1. Heat emboss with the gold embossing powder. Or, you may use any color embossing powder you want to.

  1. Punch corners with decorative punch and layer onto card stock.

  1. Attach this to your folded card.

10. Embellish as desired.
