Each month, we'll be bringing you a new technique to try. We'll also have several samples for you to see! Look to the bottom of this page for more samples.
Hope you're inspired!
What you’ll need:
1 Masking tape (2 inch wide is good, but narrower is okay to)
2 White card stock
3 Brayer or cosmetic wedges
4 Dye ink pad
5 Vellum
6 Heat tool
7 Brads
8 Stamps of your choice
Instructions:
- Cut white card stock to desired size. Cut the vellum the same size.
- Tear the masking tape (the original ivory colored sticky tape) into pieces and attach to the card stock. Tear off the straight edges of the tape so that all of the pieces have jagged edges but if you want straight edges then use that. Overlap the tape and make sure the entire piece of card stock is covered. If a bit of the tape extends beyond the edge of the card stock, simply fold it under because it will not show or you can cut it off. Make sure all the pieces are securely fastened to the card stock.
- Next, brayer over this piece with a soft rubber brayer and rainbow dye ink. You can make it as dark as you like. Let dry. Heat this with a heat tool to aid in drying the ink. The tape doesn't seem to be affected by the heat at all. You can apply color to the taped card stock in several different ways-- brayer, stipple, a cosmetic wedge. You can also stamp on the masking tape piece. Just make sure the ink is dry so it will not smear.
4. Attach the stamped vellum piece to the mosaic piece with brads. Then attach to a card.
